YVRGC/SWF Volunteers Take Young At Heart Seniors Out For A Morning Of Fishing!

Volunteers from YVRGC/SWF along with AZGFD Region 4 staff combined to take Seniors currently residing in an assisted living environment out for a morning of fishing.  Even though the morning temperatures were in the 40's, these Young at Heart Seniors were anxious to spend a morning by the water and enjoy the wildlife at the West Wetlands Park.  While the fish were uncooperative, everyone enjoyed a morning in the sun with rod in hand in hopes for a tug on the line.  Some of these Seniors had never fished before, volunteers were eager to share information on fish species in the pond along with helping identify all the waterfowl on the pond.  Thanks to all who participated with this event, we look forward to the next opportunity to take Seniors fishing.
